The Lexington Minutemen are on the road again on Friday and play against the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Lexington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Wellington-Napoleon likes a good challenge.
Lexington pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 79-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harrisonville. The loss was Lexington's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Wellington-Napoleon came up short against Penney on Tuesday and fell 59-46. Wellington-Napoleon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Trotter Hughes, who scored 12 points. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Lucas Waterworth was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Lexington's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-1. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Lexington came up short against Wellington-Napoleon in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 70-57. Can Lexington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
