The West Point Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Shadow Ridge 43-14. While losing is never fun, West Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Stallions are ranked 94th).
Shadow Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danica Lindemann, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals. Aalayah Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
West Point dropped their record down to 3-16 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.5 points per game. As for Shadow Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
West Point will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shadow Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monsoon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Vista is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
