Moffat is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Antonito a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Moffat Cowboys will take on the Antonito Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Moffat is ranked 314th, while Antonito is ranked 324th).
Moffat posted their closest win yet this season last Friday. They had just enough and edged Antonito out 45-42. The victory was just what Moffat needed coming off of a 49-27 loss in their prior game.
Moffat relied on the efforts of Paige Hammel, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, and Kadence McWilliams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Hammel hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games.
Moffat's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Antonito, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Saturday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Moffat have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.5 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Antonito, though, as they've been averaging only 24.2 rebounds per game. Given Moffat's sizeable advantage in that area, Antonito will need to find a way to close that gap.
Moffat skirted past Antonito 45-42 when the teams last played last Friday. Will Moffat repeat their success, or does Antonito have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
