Mt. Whitney has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The El Diamante Miners at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Mt. Whitney has not done well against Golden West recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mt. Whitney came out on top against Golden West by a score of 33-23.
Mt. Whitney can attribute much of their success to Kysen Sing, who rushed for 82 yards and three touchdowns. Noah Murillo made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, El Diamante's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They took their matchup against Monache 24-14.
Mt. Whitney now has a winning record of 4-3. Finally capturing their first win of the season, El Diamante advanced to 1-6.
Mt. Whitney took their victory against El Diamante when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 24-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Whitney since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
