The Providence Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Loyalton at home and fell 76-33. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Providence in their matchups with Loyalton: they've now lost five in a row.
Aidan Shelby was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 42 points, 15 rebounds, and nine blocks for Loyalton. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shelby has scored at least a third of Loyalton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus Petterson, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals.
Providence has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Loyalton, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Loyalton, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Loyalton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 376 points over their last five contests.
