While the Raleigh Charter Phoenix couldn't quite beat the East Wake Academy Eagles on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 31-point defeat they were dealt last Friday. Raleigh Charter fell just short of East Wake Academy by a score of 36-34. Raleigh Charter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as East Wake Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Emma Roche was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 20 rebounds for East Wake Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Roche has scored at least a third of East Wake Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Reese Butler, who scored three points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Raleigh Charter dropped their record down to 5-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for East Wake Academy, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Raleigh Charter will head out on the road to challenge Franklin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Wake Academy, they will be playing at home against Research Triangle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Research Triangle has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while East Wake Academy will arrive with three straight wins.
