The Easton Area Rovers will head out on the road to square off against the East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Easton Area is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
Easton Area posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 61-27 victory over Louis E. Dieruff. The victory was just what Easton Area needed coming off of a 71-38 loss in their prior contest.
Easton Area can attribute much of their success to Ryan Cornish, who scored 13 points, and Jeremy Henry, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Henry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyshaun Dunlap, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, East Stroudsburg North pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Pleasant Valley on the road by a decisive 79-65 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as East Stroudsburg North came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Pleasant Valley is ranked 382nd).
Despite the defeat, East Stroudsburg North had strong showings from Nate Wilder, who scored 22 points, and Bryceson Dobie, who scored 20 points. Wilder hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Ozias Washington, who scored seven points.
Easton Area's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for East Stroudsburg North, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's matchup: Easton Area have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.1 threes per game. It's a different story for East Stroudsburg North, though, as they've been averaging only 5.7 threes per game. Given Easton Area's sizeable advantage in that area, East Stroudsburg North will need to find a way to close that gap.
