Chisago Lakes Area and Becker are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Chisago Lakes Area has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Things were looking good for Chisago Lakes Area after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Big Lake by a score of 6-5. The Wildcats have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Chisago Lakes Area got a good showing from Nathan Wehrenberg, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Cole Stilp was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Carson Drury was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Becker had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Bluejackets.
Becker also got a great performance from Ethyn Cantin as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Cantin has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Becker saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Pietrowski, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Pietrowski has posted over his last ten matches. Isaac Daluge also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Becker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.
Chisago Lakes Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Becker, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
