Staunton has gone a perfect 7-0 against Greenville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Comets at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Staunton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against North Mac as they made off with a 13-0 win. The Bulldogs have beaten the Panthers the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Chloe Reynolds was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Bandy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Reynolds wasn't the only one making solid contact: Staunton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Mac only managed three hits.
While Greenville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over Ramsey on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Comets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Kaitlyn Lurkins was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ramzi Stefanisin was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Haylee Clark was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Staunton's record is now 9-1. As for Greenville, their record now sits at 10-2-1.
Staunton took their victory against Greenville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
