Basketball Game Preview: Neah Bay Red Devils vs. La Conner Braves

The Neah Bay Red Devils and the La Conner Braves will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Neah Bay's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Neah Bay saw some tournament action on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 64-25 victory over Orcas Island. That looming 64-25 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Devils yet this season.

Makyah Chambers had an outrageously good game as he made all 7 shots he took to post 18 points and five steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Swan, who posted eight points.

Neah Bay was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, La Conner came up short against Tulalip Heritage on Thursday, falling 84-63. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Hawks are ranked 96th).

Neah Bay's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for La Conner, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Neah Bay came up short against La Conner in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 70-66. Can Neah Bay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
