Schuylerville is 6-1 against Amsterdam since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Horses will venture away from home to face off against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Schuylerville has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Tuesday, Schuylerville needed a bit of extra time to put away Scotia-Glenville. They had just enough and edged out the Tartans 15-14. Considering the Horses' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Ava Reese was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Lucy Myers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Amsterdam came out on top against Broadalbin-Perth on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Rams' pitcher stepped up to hand the Patriots an 8-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Rams have posted against the Patriots since May 14, 2021.
Not much got past Leila Brooks, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Broadalbin-Perth off the board. Brooks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Amsterdam let Ellie Tirado and Brielle Winn run wild. Tirado went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Winn went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Amsterdam kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.6.
Amsterdam's record is now 4-10. As for Schuylerville, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5.
Schuylerville beat Amsterdam 12-8 in their previous meeting on April 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Horses since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
