The Kerens Bobcats will challenge the Wortham Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kerens has seven straight victories, Wortham has 14 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Kerens beats Wortham with 11 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Kerens didn't even let LaPoynor on the board on Friday, marking Kerens' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kannon Ritchie made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3.

Ritchie wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lionel Escobedo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Escobedo a new career-high. Another was Andy Conklin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Kerens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wortham came up short against Frankston on Friday, falling 16-1.
Kerens pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Wortham, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
Everything went Kerens' way against Wortham when the teams last played back in February of 2022, as Kerens made off with a 12-2 win. Does Kerens have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wortham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
