The DuQuoin Indians on the road again on Thursday and play against the Johnston City Indians at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th.
Last Tuesday, DuQuoin lost to Christopher on the road by a decisive 59-43 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for DuQuoin in their matchups with Christopher: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their defeat, DuQuoin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dwayne Wilmington, who scored 11 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Eli Maynor was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Even though Johnston City has not done well against Eldorado recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Johnston City walked away with a 53-45 victory over Eldorado. The victory was just what Johnston City needed coming off of a 58-34 loss in their prior contest.
DuQuoin has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Johnston City, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
DuQuoin beat Johnston City 50-42 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will DuQuoin repeat their success, or does Johnston City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
