Softball Game Preview: Knox Redskins vs. Jimtown Jimmies

The Knox Redskins will take on the Jimtown Jimmies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Knox is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Knox is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Bremen get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The game was the first time the Redskins have beaten the Lions on their field since May 16, 2018.

Cheryl Barnes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joie Montague, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Knox lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Jimtown can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Winamac.

The team relied heavily on Kendal McPhee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

The win snapped Knox's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-15 record. As for Jimtown, their record is now 15-12.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Knox hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Jimtown struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Knox beat Jimtown 6-3 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
