Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Riverton walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Lehi Pioneers with a sharp 11-2 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Silverwolves, who have now won 20 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Riverton got a great performance from Kaelyn Flynn as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Flynn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maggie Hamblin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aspen Roberts, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Riverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lehi only posted an OBP of .310.
The victory (which was Riverton's sixth in a row) raised their record to 29-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lehi, their loss dropped their record down to 24-10.
As of now, neither Riverton nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
