The Jamestown Eagles will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the York Falcons at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jamestown has 19 straight victories, York has 16 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Jamestown was able to grind out a solid victory over Grafton, taking the game 49-36.
Jamestown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Leach, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Leach is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Vision Pretlow, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, York came up short against Smithfield on Thursday and fell 44-37.
Despite the defeat, York saw an underclassman step up: Kenlee Washington scored 19 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Washington scored 15 or more points. Sarah Witt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Jamestown pushed their record up to 19-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.2 points. As for York, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
Everything came up roses for Jamestown against York when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 71-7 victory. Will Jamestown repeat their success, or does York have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
