The Jurupa Hills Spartans missed an extra point against the Summit SkyHawks on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Jurupa Hills and Summit were almost perfectly matched up, but Jurupa Hills suffered an agonizing 14-13 defeat.
Jurupa Hills' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylen Ephraim, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown. Ephraim's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards. Another player making a difference was Caleb Ruiz, who threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns.
Summit found their leader in underclassman Jesse Vega, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Jurupa Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Summit, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Jurupa Hills will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Irvine at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Irvine will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Summit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Covina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
