Whitehaven (Memphis, Tenn.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Mark Dodson Jr. ran for a touchdown with 8:00 left, bringing the team to victory over
Mount Juliet (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) 41-35.
After trailing 28-14 at the half, the Golden Bears went ahead on a touchdown with 3:00 remaining in the third.
Whitehaven saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to seven entering the fourth.
Mount Juliet's
Ben Cheatham played well. The junior running back ran for one touchdown.
WHS's most effective player was Dodson Jr. The senior running back ran for four touchdowns.
MJ came in surrendering 14.2 points per game this season. The Mt. Juliet school struggled against the Memphis school's offense, which entered the game scoring 36.8 points per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Tigers came away with a 44-10 victory.
The loss comes after Mount Juliet defeated Brentwood 31-20 last week.
In a playoff game next week Whitehaven (14-0) takes on Mount Juliet, and Mount Juliet (12-2) will go up against Whitehaven also in a playoff game.
