Appomattox County has gone 8-2 against Buckingham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Appomattox County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Appomattox County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Gretna 10-0. Considering the Raiders have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Paisley Mann was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Elliott, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Karly Jenkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Appomattox County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Buckingham brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Cumberland on Wednesday. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Appomattox County's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Buckingham, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
