After two games on the road, Clovis East is heading back home. They will take on the Central Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clovis East has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Clovis East was handed a three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Cougars on Friday. Clovis East claimed a resounding 65-31 win over the Cougars on the road. Given Clovis East's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Cougars are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Clovis North on the road and fell 91-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Central got a solid performance out of Branden Ezell, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ezell has scored all season. Myron Pondexter-Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Clovis East's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Clovis East against the Grizzlies when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 70-43 win. Will Clovis East repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
