Cypress Creek hasn't had much luck against River Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cypress Creek Coyotes will take on the River Ridge Royal Knights at 7:00 p.m. Cypress Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Cypress Creek is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Pasco on Tuesday. Cypress Creek's pitcher stepped up to hand Pasco a 3-0 shutout. While the Coyotes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Emily Bowling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Cypress Creek let Lily Briscoe and Solenia Suarez run wild. Briscoe scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Suarez went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Suarez a new career-high.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when River Ridge and Wiregrass Ranch meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. River Ridge fell just short of Wiregrass Ranch by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Royal Knights have suffered since March 14, 2024.
Paityn Vanfossen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Vozdecky, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
River Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Cypress Creek, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Cypress Creek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like River Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cypress Creek might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from River Ridge in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Cypress Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
