After flying high against the Rainier Mountaineers on Tuesday, Pe Ell/Willapa Valley came back down to earth. The game between Pe Ell/Willapa Valley and Kalama wasn't particularly close, with Pe Ell/Willapa Valley falling 30-12. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Pe Ell/Willapa Valley couldn't push the score so high this time.
Nate Fluke threw for 82 yards and a touchdown. Blaine King was his top target, picking up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Blake Howard rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Pe Ell/Willapa Valley's loss was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 6-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Napavine and 8-2 Toledo (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.5% over those games). As for Kalama, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Pe Ell/Willapa Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Kalama will be playing in front of their home fans against Friday Harbor at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Friday Harbor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Kalama is ranked 89th).
