West Point and the Red Devils are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The West Point Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Lawrence County Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. West Point has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three contests.
Last Thursday, West Point didn't have too much trouble with the Bulldogs on the road as they won 67-52. Given West Point's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Lawrence County came up short against the Jaguars on Thursday and fell 47-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lawrence County has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jackson Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jack Boyll, who scored eight points along with two steals.
West Point has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Lawrence County, they now have a losing record at 13-14.
West Point came up short against the Red Devils in their previous matchup back in January, falling 59-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lawrence County's Braylon Dame, who scored 27 points along with three steals. Now that West Point knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
