The Oldenburg Academy Twisters will challenge the Milan Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oldenburg Academy will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday. The Twisters blew past the Cougars 12-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Twisters as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Clay Eckstein made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. Eckstein was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Adam Weber and Jacob Stenger did most of the damage at the plate: Weber went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Stenger went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Zach Hoff, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Milan waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Shiners 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since May 27, 2024.
Like Oldenburg Academy, Milan also got a great game from a two-way player: Tommy Poole. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Poole was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Noah Morgan was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
The win got Oldenburg Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Milan, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Oldenburg Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Milan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. Do the Twisters have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
