Zack Wilcox and Malcolm Vaught provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Terry Sanford. The connection was good for 81 yards, the longest such play in 3A/2A Waccamaw this season.
East Bladen extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating North Brunswick, 7-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.
West Bladen's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Wilcox threw for 447 and three touchdowns and Vaught had 357 yards receiving. On the ground Colby Lewis chipped in two yards. Karon Shipman helped West Bladen's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 31 yards.
The Knights' Wilcox and Vaught have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wilcox has thrown for 1801 yards this season, while Vaught has 87 catches for 1186 yards. West Brunswick's Khalil Gause leads the league in rushing yards with 1126.
A big matchup in 3A/2A Waccamaw this week will be when East Bladen takes on Whiteville. Lenon Fisher's team is currently in second, while the Wolfpack are in fifth.
The Eagles and the Scorpions played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Eagles eventually emerging with a 7-6 victory.
