If the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders were feeling good off their 93-41 takedown of the Delta Bobcats on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Saxony Lutheran took a hard 70-52 fall against Kelly on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Saxony Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Kelly is ranked 65th).
When it comes to explaining why Saxony Lutheran lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luke Eggemeyer. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Eggemeyer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times he's played. Owen Bucheit was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Saxony Lutheran's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Kelly, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saxony Lutheran will take on Doniphan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kelly will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Portageville at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
