There's no place like home for the Emporia Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 55-47 victory over Manhattan on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Emporia also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Emporia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sheldon Stewart out in front who scored 22 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stewart has scored all season. River Peters was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Emporia's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Manhattan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.
Emporia will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Topeka at 7:30 p.m. As for Manhattan, they will head out on the road to face off against Hayden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hayden has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
