There's no place like home for the Wausa Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 48-36 win over Hartington-Newcastle on Tuesday. For Wausa, this counts as revenge for the 42-40 defeat Hartington-Newcastle walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Wausa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Schlote, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Schindler, who scored 11 points.
Hartington-Newcastle's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley Sudbeck, who scored nine points along with six rebounds, and Cole Rosener who scored eight points.
Wausa pushed their record up to 9-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Hartington-Newcastle, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wausa and Neligh-Oakdale will face off at 7:45 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wausa is facing Neligh-Oakdale at the right time seeing as Neligh-Oakdale is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will head out on the road to square off against Wynot at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
