AA District 16 recap October 8, 2013
Douglass moved up to 243 from 284 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AA District 16. The Red Devils were able to move up by topping Sheffield 22-20.
Frayser was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Rams triumphed over Raleigh-Egypt 19-14.
LaDarrion Seymore was a passing and rushing force as Manassas defeated Westwood. Seymore's favorite target this week was Rayford Albright, who caught 4 passes for 78 yards.
Deontay Hughes made the biggest impact on defense this week as Trezevant bested Craigmont. He grabbed 2 sacks.
Seymore was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 153 yards as the Tigers defeated the Longhorns. Teammate DeCarlos Stepheny added to the ground attack by rushing for 97 yards.
Trezevant's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jordan Spencer has thrown for 468 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Gabriel Scott has 12 catches for 296 yards.
The Bears are in first place, while the Knights are in fourth place.
Westwood lost to Manassas 49-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
