Berea-Midpark fell just short of Avon by a score of 49-46. While losing is never fun, Berea-Midpark can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while Avon is ranked 163rd).
Avon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abby Owens out in front who scored 15 points. Emma Owens was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Berea-Midpark's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Avon, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berea-Midpark will square off against Hawken at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Hawken is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Avon, they will head out on the road to face off against Midview at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
