Volleyball Recap: Moapa Valley Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

If Mater Academy East Las Vegas wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Moapa Valley, they should've done a better job of containing Spencer Stolworthy. The Moapa Valley Pirates came out on top against the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights by a score of 3-1 on Friday with plenty of help from Stolworthy, who had five digs and three aces. Stolworthy is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 26 every time he's taken the court this season.

The final score came out to 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 28-26.

Jonathan Diaz and Malcolm Lawrence certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Diaz had nine kills, seven digs, five aces, and three blocks, while Lawrence had seven digs, five kills, two aces, and one block. That's the most kills Lawrence has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Taylor, who had eight kills, five aces, and three blocks.

The victory made it two in a row for Moapa Valley and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Moapa Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:00 p.m. on March 24th. Mater Academy East Las Vegas will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Virgin Valley at 6:00 p.m. on March 24th.
