West Lowndes has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Kosciusko Whippets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in West Lowndes' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
Last Tuesday, West Lowndes earned a 61-48 victory over Nanih Waiya. Given West Lowndes' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Nanih Waiya is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Kosciusko didn't have too much trouble with West Point on the road on Saturday as they won 50-32. 50 seems to be a good number for Kosciusko as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kosciusko to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cory Guyton, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Andrew Mancell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
West Lowndes' victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Kosciusko, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
West Lowndes might still be hurting after the 68-48 loss they got from Kosciusko in their previous meeting back in November of 2020. Can West Lowndes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
