The power rankings have been shaken up after a frantic week teeming with triumph and disappointment. Among the action were the efforts of Jackson's sophomore Cael Welker, an offensive menace who scored seven total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Even though Lee's Summit North was bested by Liberty 39 - 35 last week, Lee's Summit North's senior Christian Carter played one heck of a game. He earned four touchdowns and 263 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Carter one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Lee's Summit West (2nd in the power rankings) and Staley (5th) did not disappoint. Lee's Summit West snuck past Staley with a 21 - 17 victory. Senior Ben Kobel deserves a lot of the credit as he threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
Movin on Up
The Jackson offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It had all the answers against Battle, winning 60 - 33. Jackson found its leader in an underclassman: Cael Welker tossed the ball for 516 yards and seven TDs, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players. Jackson's success was rewarded with a 13-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
