Bishop Verot has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Gateway Charter Griffins at TBD on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Bishop Verot beat the Lightning 51-38.
Meanwhile, Gateway Charter put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They breezed by Community School of Naples at home to the tune of 64-37. The win was familiar territory for Gateway Charter who now have three in a row.
Gateway Charter's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Katelyn Rosario, who scored 16 points, and Ellie Morin, who scored 15 points. Rosario continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lizy Mendez, who scored 11 points.
Bishop Verot has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Gateway Charter, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Bishop Verot was able to grind out a solid victory over the Griffins in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 39-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Verot since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
