Baseball Recap: Maury Extends Winning Streak to Three

Maury waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Manor Mustangs with a sharp 23-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Commodores also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Landon Strauss and Hunter Gillespie made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Strauss tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gillespie pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Strauss has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Strauss scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Gillespie scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Strauss also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Maury got a massive performance out of Lee Garris, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Garris has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Landen Hall was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Maury kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Maury pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Manor, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
