Bridgeland extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping them up to 20-4. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cypress Woods Wildcats, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since February 19th.
Tara Tarnowski made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Bridgeland got a big performance out of Addy Gibbons, who went 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Gibbons a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucy Sharon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Bridgeland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
As for Cypress Woods, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10. They have struggled against Bridgeland recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
On Cypress Woods' side, Peyton Wilkie made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexia Vazquez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bridgeland will host Langham Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lobos have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Cypress Woods, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Waller at 6:00 p.m. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
