Beaufort is 0-10 against May River since March of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The scorekeeper got an easy start last Wednesday as neither Beaufort nor Hilton Head Island made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles came out on top against the Seahawks by a score of 5-2. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Aliyah Aiken spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Kara Nuehring and Londyn Broadwater did most of the damage at the plate: Nuehring went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Broadwater went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave Broadwater a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylin Adkins, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, May River made easy work of Bluffton last Wednesday and carried off a 14-4 victory. Considering the Sharks have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Caydon Swofford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Swofford was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Kali Clark was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Rice, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
May River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive games.
Beaufort's win bumped their record up to 6-10-1. As for May River, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
