The Paden City Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Clay-Battelle Cee Bees at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Paden City will be strutting in after a win while Clay-Battelle will be coming in after a loss.
Paden City has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They secured a 31-27 W over Hannan on Monday.
Paden City relied on the efforts of Kimberly Burch, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and six steals, and Ashton Wade, who scored eight points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lexi Mathis, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-36, which was the final score in Clay-Battelle's tilt against Barnesville on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Clay-Battelle came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 91st in West Virginia, while Barnesville is ranked 425th in Ohio).
Paden City's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Clay-Battelle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Paden City might still be hurting after the 41-16 defeat they got from Clay-Battelle in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Paden City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
