On the hitting side, Erick Castro made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Stroudsburg North). They had just enough and edged out Notre Dame 7-6 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.
Owen Peckally and Chris Roman-Whittaker did most of the damage at the plate: Peckally scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Roman-Whittaker went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Jason Hojnacki also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
The win got East Stroudsburg North back to even at 2-2. As for Northampton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
East Stroudsburg North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northampton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for East Stroudsburg North, though, as they've only averaged .313. Will they be able to contain Northampton's hitters?
