The result came thanks to Megan Creech's shutout, as she gave up just seven hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Benton Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against South Newton on Monday by a score of 12-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Reagan Dowell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Dowell was also big at the plate, getting three hits from her three at bats.
In other batting news, Madison Minniear was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Izzy Adams, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Lafayette has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Benton Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
