The Aquinas Monarchs will head out on the road to face off against the Scotus Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Aquinas is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Aquinas strolled past Lakeview with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. Aquinas pushed the score to 56-36 by the end of the third, a deficit Lakeview cut but never quite recovered from.
Aquinas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kailer Pohl, who scored 15 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pohl has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Andel, who scored 14 points.
Aquinas used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Lakeview. And. Dillon Bohuslavsky made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, Scotus came into Saturday's match having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Lakeview by a score of 49-36 on Saturday.
Aquinas' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. As for Scotus, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13.
Aquinas couldn't quite finish off Scotus when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 39-37. Can Aquinas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
