The Glencoe Yellowjackets won the last time they faced the Oneonta Redskins, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Glencoe strolled past the Redskins with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. The win made it back-to-back wins for Glencoe.
Leading Glencoe to victory were Sarah Ponder and Alli Jo Amos. Ponder scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Amos dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Amos has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinlee Montgomery, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Despite the defeat, Oneonta saw an underclassman step up: Lexie Jackson scored 21 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Annsley Aguirre, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Oneonta were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glencoe only posted seven assists.
Glencoe has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Oneonta, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glencoe will take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oneonta, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
