Softball Recap: Triton Central Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Triton Central waltzed into their contest on Thursday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They never let the Monrovia Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Brylie Couch made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Hittle was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-2. Olivia Schaadt was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Triton Central pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Monrovia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Coincidentally, Triton Central and Monrovia will both be playing Covenant Christian the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
