Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Tularosa

Tularosa won against Gateway Christian on Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wildcats beat the Hatch Valley Bears by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.

Daniel Yuzos was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Yuzos was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tularosa got a massive performance out of Jacoby Apochicto, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Apochicto is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ayden Esquero, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Tularosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hatch Valley only posted an OBP of .286.

The win was the third in a row for Tularosa, bringing their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hatch Valley, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

Tularosa will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
