Northville is 0-1 against Belleville since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Northville Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Belleville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northville comes in on ten and Belleville on 22.
Last Friday, Northville strolled past Novi with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. Given Northville's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Novi is ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evan Deak had a dynamite game for Northville, rushing for 176 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
Northville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Deak and Graham Gilmartin who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Belleville got themselves on the board against Fordson on Friday, but Fordson never followed suit. They blew past the Tractors, posting a 40-0 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Belleville, who have now won seven matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
Northville's win was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating across those matches too: they took their wins by an average of 22 points. As for Belleville, their win on Friday also bumped their record up to 8-0.
Northville was dealt a bruising 84-0 loss at the hands of Belleville in their previous meeting back in November of 2020. Can Northville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
