Peninsula - Lake recap November 5, 2013
Hillsdale scaled the state rankings by moving to 555 from 606 this week, the biggest jump in Peninsula - Lake. The Knights were able to move up by besting El Camino 28-6.
Hillsdale added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Colts, 28-6. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
King's Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dominic Sabel threw for 320 and 2 touchdowns and Mark Miclean had 145 yards receiving. On the ground Alex Bae chipped in 108 yards. Derek Friske helped King's Academy's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 119 yards.
Jaret Falkowski was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Knights beat Carlmont. The 6-foot-1 sophomore grabbed 1 sack.
He went 19-29 with 0 interceptions.
Sabel put up the best numbers through the air as King's Academy bested the Scots. Sabel's favorite target this week was Miclean, who caught 7 passes for 145 yards.
William Gittens' team's Sabel and Friske have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Sabel has thrown for 1,391 yards this season, while Friske has 31 catches for 588 yards. Giancarlo Boscacci from the Knights leads the league in rushing with 651 yards.
A big matchup in Peninsula - Lake this week will be when Hillsdale takes on the Knights. As it stands, the Knights are in first, while King's Academy is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when Hillsdale and the Knights face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Knights comes in having scored 227 this season, while King's Academy has scored 185. Hillsdale scored 28 points last week as it topped El Camino.
Mills took down Jefferson 69-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
