The Destin Sharks just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Walton Braves at 5:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
After a string of three wins, Destin's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rocky Bayou Christian.
Destin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryson Nixon, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds, and Deshawn Ford who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ford has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Flynt, who scored nine points.
Even though Walton has not done well against Bay recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Walton strolled past Bay with points to spare, taking the game 67-50. Given Walton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Bay is ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Destin's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Walton, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
