The Oviedo Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the University Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oviedo has four straight wins, University has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Oviedo got the win against Lake Howell by a conclusive 43-20. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.

Brock Joyce and Johnnie Cobbs were among the main playmakers for Oviedo as the former rushed for 103 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries and the latter rushed for 110 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. Joyce has become a key player for the Lions: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. DaShon Febres also helped out with an impressive 123 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Oviedo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Oviedo's defense and their three sacks. Miguel Hernandez refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Oviedo received some extra help from Steven Malone, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, University fell victim to Spruce Creek and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Hawks and fell 35-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.
University's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Oviedo, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Oviedo has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 423.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for University, though, as they've been averaging only 249.1 total yards. Will Oviedo be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Titans flip the script?
Oviedo couldn't quite get it done against University in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 30-20. Thankfully for the Lions, Malachi Walters (who threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
