Clark is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Reagan is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Clark Cougars will host the Reagan Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Clark didn't have too much trouble with SA Roosevelt as they won 62-43. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Rough Riders are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
01/10/25 @ SA Roosevelt | 16 |
11/23/24 vs United | 20 |
11/21/24 vs Bridgeland | 17 |
12/29/23 @ Johnson | 15 |
11/22/24 vs Rowe | 14 |
Clark's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kristian Burgan, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Burgan has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Flemons, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points.
Meanwhile, Reagan earned a 63-56 win over Churchill on Friday.
Clark better keep an eye on Chase Hill. He was instrumental in Reagan's win, going 8 of 13 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Garrison, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Clark is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Reagan, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Clark has been crazy accurate this season, having nailed 50.9% of their field goals per game. However, it's not like Reagan struggles in that department as they've nailed 49.8% of their shots this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Clark came up short against Reagan when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 56-47. Thankfully for Clark, Aidan Richard (who went 8 of 14 on his way to 26 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
