South Salem's Jaylynn Bailey recorded the longest rushing play in 6A Central Valley this season in his game against McKay last week. Bailey scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 185 on the day as his team defeated the Scots.
West Salem extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating North Salem, 52-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Sprague's dynamic duo of Jon Schaub and William Brottan proved tough for McNary to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schaub threw for 253 yards and five touchdowns and Brottan had 63 yards receiving. Austin Johnson helped Sprague's passing attack out by catching one ball for 60 yards.
Brett Hildebrand was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 218 yards on 28 carries as the Celtics beat the Celtics. Teammate Cody Bond added to the ground attack by rushing for five yards.
Sprague's Schaub and Nicholas Moran have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A Central Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Schaub has thrown for 1278 yards this season, while Moran, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 23 catches for 428 yards. Bailey from South Salem leads the league in rushing with 935 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Scott Dufault's team takes on West Salem. The Saxons' offense has scored 256 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Shawn Stanley's team has allowed only 127 on the year.
McNary's Hildebrand is a mere 72 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Hildebrand has rushed for 928 yards on 151 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Titans take on South Salem. At the moment, West Salem is in first, while the Saxons are in third.
South Salem took down Greg Mendez's team 72-19 last week, the largest margin of any game. Bailey caught one passes for 38 yards in the win.
